Manicures

Our hands do a lot for us and need nurturing in return. A manicure will improve nail and skin conditions.

In a 'Beauty In Yu' manicure, nails are gently shaped then the nail plate cleaned. Cuticles are massaged to soften and then removed; hands are exfoliated to remove dead skin cells. A moisturiser is massaged to nourish the skin, finally a hand and forearm massage to completely relax you.

Nails are then filed over to prepare them for a protective base coat before the polish is applied. After two coats of glossy colour a top coat is painted.

We have two deluxe manicures

1. In addition to the above a warm paraffin wax is applied to the hands and covered with heated mittens which softens and nourishes,

2. A cooling mask to rejuvenate the skin.

Pedicures

Tired, aching feet?

We must not forget to look after our feet. We're on them all day the least we can do is treat them to a break!

Your feet are treated to a relaxing foot spa. Feet are worked on one at a time, cuticles are softened and the nails shaped. Nails should always be filed in one direction only and if cut with nail clippers or scissors they should be cut straight across, to avoid in-grown toe nails. Cuticles can then be trimmed, an exfoliating scrub to remove the dead skin cells. Any hard skin on the soles of the feet can be sloughed off using a pedicure file or foot rasp. The lower legs and feet are then gently massaged in an upward direction to reduce the build up of toxins and to reduce water retention. All that remains is to choose a nail polish!

We have two deluxe Pedicures

1. in addition to the above a deluxe treatment which includes a warm paraffin wax to soften and moisturise dry skin, for extra nourishing warm paraffin wax is applied to the feet and covered with booties which softens and nourishes.

2. In addition to the above a deluxe treatment which includes a cooling mask to rejuvenate the skin.

How does sports massage therapy differ from therapeutic massage?

Sports massage therapy is a deeper form of soft tissue massage which uses specific techniques to treat physically active individuals, who may be more vulnerable to injury because of the stresses placed on the body by their sport.

Waxing

 'Beauty in Yu' uses a naturally derived honey wax which is warmed in a special heater and applied with a spatula onto cleansed skin. A paper strip is then placed over the wax in the direction of hair growth, pressed down and quickly removed against the hair growth.

Done correctly this should cause minimal discomfort and hair-free skin for up to four weeks. This can be done all over the body for males and females. There is no prickly re-growth which does occur after shaving.

''Beauty in Yu' uses two methods for eyebrow shaping, waxing or plucking. The shaping method used, depends on how much hair is present but is usually down to personal preference.

Professional eyebrow shaping will:

Suitable eyebrow shapes are determined by face and eye shape and last up to 4 weeks, depending on your own hair growth. We will discuss this with you before shaping.

EYEBROW & LASH TINT

Eyelash and eyebrow tinting can emphasize the eyes, usually lasts 4 weeks. Great for fair-haired people who want their eyelashes and eyebrows to stand out, or for those who just want a more natural but defined eye. A replacement for daily mascara or eyebrow pencil application. Using a safe and non-toxic dye to enhance eyes.
